Recently produced my ID to join The Center (which may or may not have previously been a Senior Center).
Years ago, my favorite twin gave me an AARP card when I turned 50. Now I’m the member of a Senior Center that changed its name to “The Center” so as not to turn off us middle-aged folks.
Great benefits, such as computer skills, great haircuts, Tai Chi, chair yoga, and other programs.
It’s a 9-iron from where I live in West Seattle. You get good roll on hard surfaces.
My new friend, Talia, owner of Little Shop of Hairdos, volunteers once a month for two hours to cut hair. No charge – just donations to The Center. No tips. I asked her, and she said, “I volunteer because I can now,” and now I want to as well. I may volunteer soon. Maybe for the Rainbow Bingo, coming this fall.
Nothing like a bartending gig for a drag performance.
